Walther P99 Pistols

 

The Walther P99 is a semi-automatic pistol made in Germany by Walther Sportwaffen. The design of the Walther P99 was initiated in 1994, and the handgun was presented in 1996. The main goal was to develop a new, modern-style police and self-defense handgun that incorporated all the latest developments and would cost less than its predecessor, the Walther P88, which did not achieve any significant commercial success, mainly due to high prices.

Walther P99 The Walther P99 uses an internal striker as opposed to an external hammer, with a red-painted striker tip that protrudes from rear of the slide when the gun is cocked, as well as a chamber loaded indicator on the right side of the slide. The Walther P99 includes a decocking button, four internal safeties, tool-less takedown, accessory rail, and sights adjustable for both windage and elevation. The Walther P99 also features  interchangeable grip backstraps of varying sizes for different users and an ambidextrous magazine release incorporated into the trigger guard.

P99C (Compact)

The Walther P99C is the  compact style of the Walther P99 and is available in both Anti-Stress and Quick Action versions.

P99AS (Anti-stress)

Prior to 2004, there was no designation for the double action trigger which Walther now markets as the P99AS ("Anti-Stress") trigger. It is called anti-stress because the trigger pull is the same length for the first shot, regardless of single or double-action. The anti-stress trigger functions as a sort of two-stage trigger, lessening the possibility of unintentional "reflex" firing in stressful situations.

P99QA (Quick-action)

The Walther P99QA is a Glock-style action with preloaded striker (shorter, lighter pull). This short pull with its quick reset provides quick shot delivery from the Walther P99 QA hand gun, especially in competitive situations.

P99 AS FEATURES

Trigger Mechanism: Traditional Double Action with an Anti-Stress Mode
As the first pistol equipped with a firing pin lock, the Walther pistol P99 AS combines the advantages of the traditional Double Action System with Single Action Anti-Stress trigger. The Walther hand gun P99 provides the shooter with a user-friendliness previously found only in hammer fired pistols.

Traditional Double Action
The anti-stress trigger makes the Walther firearm P99 one of the world's safest firearms by preventing unintentional "reflex" firing in stressful situations. The decisive innovation: When the slide is racked completely to the rear upon loading, the trigger remains in the forward position for the first shot; not only in the double action trigger mode, but also in the single action mode. The trigger travel is .551" long in the anti-stress mode (at 4.4 lbs. trigger force), preventing inadvertent firing. On all subsequent shots, the trigger travel is reduced to .314" (at the same trigger force) and this permits firing in rapid sequence, due to the quick reset of the Walther pistol P99 trigger.

Enhanced Safety
The Walther pistol P99 AS is equipped with a decocking button to safely decock the striker. It acts as an automatic safety and is integrated directly into the slide to prevent snagging on clohing even if the gun is drawn quickly.
