The ability to conceal does not have to be at the sacrifice of power. Walther's PPS is a graceful blend of power, concealment and safety, ideal for both law enforcement and civilian self-defense. The PPS is designed with a lightweight polymer frame and precision crafted steel slide and barrel, weighing in at 20.8 oz. without the magazine. With an overall length of 6.3", height of 4.4", and an incredible 1.04" width it is barely larger and somewhat lighter than the popular PPK, yet maintains the sleek aesthetics that personify a Walther pistol.
Unlike its predecessor, the PPS is available in both 9 x 19mm and .40 S&W giving it more bang for your buck than most concealed carry weapons. This makes the PPS ideal as a back-up or off-duty weapon for law enforcement or an effective, manageable firearm for the well defended citizen.
Power and size aren’t the only things that make the PPS what it is. Keeping yourself and your household safe also means making sure your firearms are safe. Walther has designed the PPS with a variety of safety features. Both trigger and striker safeties ensure that the gun only fires when then trigger is pulled. Furthermore, to make sure the PPS only fires when it’s your finger on the trigger, Walther employs their distinctive QuickSafe system. Though the PPS utilizes the partially-cocked striker firing system similar to the P99’s Quick-Action system, this mechanism is disabled with the removal of the backstrap. Once removed, the gun is completely unable to fire.
In addition to its light weight and slim dimensions, the Walther offers other options for the consumer to customize their weapon for optimum comfort and compatibility. The PPS ships with both small and large back straps and has optional magazine capacities. The 9mm has 6, 7, or 8 round magazines available while the .40 S&W has 5, 6, or 7 round options. The right combination of backstrap and magazine capacity can leave the user with tailor-made personal protection
